The law court building is ghosted and the machinery of justice grounded just because few international jurists are in town to train our own judges and their counterparts in the subregion on the implementation of international human right norms. I bet they do not need these now almost monthly training events which greatly disrupt court sessions and left litigants stranded for justice.
Rather, what they sorely need is to implement the howsoever little they know (I’m cocksure some of our judges have swathe of knowledge perhaps even more than some of these international jurist trainers); what they need is to conscientiously reduce the corporate judicial infraction of the constitutional right of the people of Sierra Leone to secure protection of the law and justice. What they need is a brutally honest reminder of how our human rights have been maimed by the very hand of this arm of successive governments.
The ICJ and their training can wait but not justice for the people of Sierra Leone—not even for a minute talk less of a whole 48 hour! Our judiciary has sadly become the dumpsite of every training, workshop and seminar in the world. It is so overfed hence overweight that it hardly produces anything. The people of Sierra Leone have only now been left to divine justice—much of which is in the hereafter.
Yes, the garment of justice is being laundered by the current Chief Justice but its heart, sans rending.
Ditch the training!
